My name is David Markham. I have been working in the field of mental health as a therapist for over 10 years. My specialty is addiction and substance use disorders. I also am proficient in stage related challenges as well as parenting education and support. I am licensed in the State of Michigan as a Professional Counselor. I also possess the Certified Advance Alcohol and Drug Counselor as well as Certified Clinical Supervisor credentials from Michigan's Certification Board of Addiction Professionals.
My approach to therapy is through a relational trauma informed style. I believe the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship dynamic between the therapist and patient. I strive to have a presence that is warm, welcoming, empathic, and safe for patients to feel heard, respected, and empowered.
I also put a huge focus on confidentiality. I use telehealth and email platforms that are compliant with HIPAA and 42 CFR. I also don't work with insurance and charge a flat rate of 100 dollars per session. My records are kept on my local hard drive with a backup external. I don't use AI of any kind nor do I use cloud based storage, other than my email. I do this because my focus is on the patient in front of me during the session, not on satisfying external requirements.
